Improve My Gas Mileage and Improving Fuel Mileage

People have tried many fuel additives and aftermarket gadgets to unlock some kind of hidden performance inside the vehicle. The hot button now is improving gas mileage in our cars which are draining our pockets at the pump.

The hot summer months prompt us to use our air conditioner; however the compressor is tied in with the engine and requires fuel to run the AC. Opening the windows can also harm fuel economy, so here is the rule. If traveling under 40 MPH, opening the windows improves gas mileage, however above 40 MPH, the AC will improve fuel economy versus opening the windows at highway speeds.

Driving smarter and being a much more fuel savvy consumer is probably the best means to improving gas mileage. If running errands in town, driving to a central location and walking or biking the rest of the way will improve gas mileage because the stop and go type of driving while searching for a parking place is when the engine is the most inefficient. By avoiding this type of situation will undoubtedly improve the gas mileage of any car.

A higher octane fuel will not improve the gas mileage of your car and will actually harm the components and cause carbon buildup if the octane is too high or too low. A higher octane rating simply means the fuel will burn slower, not cleaner or hotter or anything of that nature. A car designed for regular octane will run the best on regular octane gasoline. It may be hard to fathom, but the auto manufacturers are not trying to screw the customer by recommending octane ratings for the car.

Drivers can improve their gas mileage by mixing gasoline octane at the pump. Many cars are designed for 87 octane, while some pumps only offer 85 and 89 octane. 85 octane is too low and 89 is not necessarily too high, but it costs more. Mixing the gasoline will lower the fuel cost and improve the fuel economy to the optimum amount with the correct mixture of fuel.

People have too much junk in their cars. The amount of weight from the various articles left in a car and forgotten about will put a strain on the engine of the car and decrease the gas mileage. Imagine carrying an extra 100 pounds every day. This will use more fuel and harm the fuel mileage. Keeping the car clean and devoid of extraneous junk improves the fuel mileage of the car by putting less strain on the engine.

Planning trips by using Internet maps or a GPS system is a great way to improve fuel economy while saving time on the commute. The less time the car is running, the less fuel it is using, but the driving conditions the car is under will also affect the fuel mileage. By cruising more, the gas mileage will improve. This means planning trips and routes around traffic patterns and road usage to maximize cruising time. If engaging on a long road trip, find where gas stations are along the route or through a small detour. The less time that is spent finding a gas station or sitting in traffic, the higher the improvement in fuel economy.

Bimini - Atlantis Found?

Edgar Cayce, the "sleeping prophet,"(who had helped some 14,000 people with physical problems, and past life issues) spoke of the "Hall of Records" buried three places on Earth. These records were the history of humankind on our planet. One record was buried under the paw of the Sphinx in Egypt. Another in the Yucatan Peninsula, and the third record buried with Atlantis when it sank under the sea. He spoke of Atlantis as being under the water in area of the Bermuda Triangle. The island of Bimini was supposed to be the highest peak of the mountain of Atlantis that never sunk. There were at least three sinkings of the Continent of Atlantis. After the first two sinkings those who stayed had to be the most stubborn, not in touch with reality folks, who just would not leave.

We set out very early AM from West Palm Beach, Florida on our journey. Chris has brought her eight year old son, and another female friend Henna. My motto has always been, "I come prepared." even though I was never a girl scout. So with much extra food in hand, we arrived at the seaplane airport in Ft. Lauderdale. I brought my sweater for the AC. The seaplane was a little 6 to 8 seater. As we took off I watched a 12 inch fan mounted on the bulkhead of the plane on an artistic rendering of fish in the sea. So much for my sweater and AC. Small windows were also open to let the fresh air in. It was thrilling to fly over the ocean and see the water below.

We arrived in early afternoon and had arranged a place to stay with the official New Age guide of the Island. We had two bedrooms and a kitchen facing the beautiful, pale green, clear water on the South part of Bimini where all the locals live. We were offered the front part of the duplex with a locked door in between the other residence. We were so tired from the journey we decided to immediately take a nap.

If in reality there is no time or space, everything past, present, and future is taking place in the great "NOW." As I lay my head on the pillow the thought came to me, "Oh my God we are in Atlantis!" Atlantis was a thriving society using "fire crystals" to power sea ships, cars, planes and everything else. They were known to have a pyramid, bigger than the Great Pyramid in Egypt, that had a crystal capstone faceted to collect the sun's energy. Apparently this crystal was an anti-matter device, possibly explaining the "disappearance" of planes, boats and people. Edgar Cayce predicted that Atlantis will rise again along with that huge pyramid! The Bimini Road, under the sea off the island could be a possible beginning of this.

Our family friend, Danny Burack, was one who disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. One Christmas Eve, in the late 1960's he was out on his boat Witchcraft (named after the popular song of that time.) Danny was showing a priest the Holiday lights of Miami. He called the coast guard and told them,"The beer box is out." and that they were near a particular numbered buoy. The beer box was really the fish locker in the back of the boat. The coast guard was there within 18 to 20 minutes and never found a trace of them. Hundreds of boats went out the next day to look for them. Everything on the boat was floatable because Danny and his wife Mary had small children. Nothing was ever found. Was Dan taken to another dimension or somehow effected by the anomalous energies of the Bermuda Triangle?

I have been a reincarnationist since I was 11 or 12 years old. I always knew I lived in ancient Greece at the height of the Parthenon and all the "myths" of the Gods and Goddesses. I do have past life memories, especially of people I meet. You cannot tell me that I don't know certain people - it is a deep soul memory, letting me know that I knew them from some distant place "before."

Maybe what happened to us at Bimini was "payback karma" from my time in Atlantis. I knew I had been evil there, participating in some of the down-fall of a once thriving Continent. The "Law of One" had slowly been taken over by power hungry people who started to use their many "gifts" for destruction.

When we settled in on our first night we could feel the spirits of the past. They were clamoring to get into us. We felt them at all the windows and doors. It was the lost souls from the time of Atlantis. The air was thick with them. We lit candles, and prayed hard for protection, saying affirmations of light to appease the souls. We cleared the area and did feel safe inside.

We were really thwarted there at every turn. We rented a golf cart to get around, it kept dying on the trail while we suffered in extreme heat. One major problem on these trails next to the ocean were huge biting horse flies. They would not leave us alone. The only relief from them was to go into the water. One afternoon Chris came out of the water to look down at her arm turned black covered with fleas! The vermin and pestilence was among us.

It was the summer solstice and we had come to celebrate that day on Bimini. "Bonefish"came to pick us up in his boat. Edgar Cayce had spoken of the "healing hole." Bonefish knew where it was. Traveling out through the mangroves we were led off the boat to a secluded small body of water. It was a miracle that there were no bugs there. We floated for hours. We felt ice cold currents in the water. Cayce said this water was supposed to come from the Andes and that it had natural lithium in it. We were so relaxed we didn't want to leave. That same day we traveled to the "Fountain of Youth." Sorry to say it was quite a beaten up well, stones scattered, very little water. So much for renewing our youth!

Our next stop was out in the water near the southern most tip of the island for the exact time of the summer solstice. On the land near our destination, pictographs can be seen from above. A fish or whale has been discovered while flying over the area. We jumped off the boat into the glorious sea. I can dowse with my body, and with my eyes. My eyes kept being drawn to this area near the shore. I finally swam to the site and felt the icy cold currents again. Another current from the Andes!

Bonefish took us back to town to a place where conch fritters are the best. He met a friend in a boat along the way and exchanged fresh conch, which he readily ate, for a six-pack of beer. It is said that the fish have gold in them from the buried treasure of Atlantis. I had to try some!

Another day we walked around the island. We felt some very unusual things. We saw people who looked "vacant," as if controlled by some type of Voodoo. The old, little cemetery was just downright spooky. We walked to the former residence of Earnest Hemingway. I swear that place was heavy with spirits of the past or maybe some of his troubled memories.

Every day we were given the "if and reverse" on how much money we were to be charged for the boat, golf cart, and the house we were staying in. We were caught in this web of deceit. We were actually feeling threatened. One day Chris and I went to the beach to bury the crystals. A storm came up, wind fierce, and the waves crashing. It was NOT a serene ceremony to open the "Hall of Records."

Emotions were so ruffled that Henna even wanted to leave a day early. That night we decided to stay in and cook dinner. Chris has brought some cornish hens to bake with some rice and veggies. As we sat in the living room ready to eat, I could hear Henna crunching, very loudly, on something she was eating. I looked down in my plate and there was a huge chard of glass in my next bite. The glass baking dish had splintered during the baking. Henna already had some intestinal problems. Oh my God, they're trying to kill us!

The next morning was our last day. It was blistering hot outside. I was sitting in the living room when all of a sudden the lights and AC went out. I announced that I was not going to sit there all day in that heat, but instead spend it entirely in that beautiful water. A couple of hours before we were to leave we returned to the house. All the doors were locked! I said "Oh great, now they have stolen all of our stuff." As I looked in a window I could see my packed suitcase. Luckily someone had left a window open. Chris's son climbed in. Nothing seemed to be missing, but they had touched all our belongings and packed for us. How Bizarre!

We walked to the airport. I couldn't wait to get out of there. The New Age guide came after us looking for a tip. Chris told him she had left two cornish hens in the freezer for him. I'm sure he equated us to the "hens."

As we sat at the airport waiting for the seaplane, a man from the tourist bureau came up to ask me some questions about my stay there. After all it was a key destination for deep sea fishermen. I refused to answer anything and told him to ask my friends. I was holding my breath to get out of there.

Since my episode on Bimini or should I say Atlantis, I've heard of another frightful trip, where a visitor ran into a stormy sea and thought he was going to die. Does Bimini test certain people for their past negative Karma?

Chris did a channeling the night before we left. "The next time you come, EVERYONE WILL KNOW YOU ARE HERE." No thank you. Good to get out of there ALIVE!

Checking Your Car

Here’s the low down on checking out the used car that you have finally set your eyes on. Take a look at the following points before you decide to take it out on a test drive.

Lean down and look down the side of the car – check for dents and dimples.
Check the bumper cars for scratches and look at the wheel hubs for dents and scratches.

Is the car too shiny? This may mean that the car dealer or seller or trying to hide something. This also implies to the engine bay, an engine bay should be slightly dusty and have grime on it. If the engine is sparkling clean you can be sure that the car has oil or coolant leaks.

Take your hand and run it under every door panel, under the wheel-arches and check the bumper edges. These are the likely areas where rust will first appear.

Check the tires on the car. Check not only the thread, also check to see if the tires are original or retreads. Uneven wear is a telltale sign of suspension problems.

Does the interior smell? Smoke smell will have smoke stains on the fabrics and the smell will be embedded in the ventilation filters. A musty smell may indicate water leakage.

How does the seat upholstery, pedals and console wear look? Does it look appropriate to the car’s mileage?

Press every button on the console and make sure the function works. Listen for any rattles in the console and ventilation fans. Turn off the engine then switch it to AC to check the engine and onboard computer warning lamps are working properly.

Turn on the hazard lamps, headlamps and press the brake pedal. Ask your friend to inspect the exterior lighting to ensure that all are working properly – especially the brake lamps.

Now take the car on a test drive. Listen intently, look at the warning lamps, feel the steering and handling, sniff for any smells – open the window and listen for engines ticks, rattles or fluid smells that may come for the warming engine bay.

The Imoprtance Of Auto Restoration

Sometimes people just don’t understand how important it is to do a certain thing, and others need a good reason to do it, so I have decided to give the classic car community a few good reasons to keep their cars on the road, first and foremost; we are Americans and as Americans we need to pay attention to our automotive history, America has a rich history of in the automotive areas.

The old cars have a certain class and style, that is becoming a thing of the past, with each passing year, more and more people decide to by import cars, and this diminishes our rich automotive history in this country, the first gas powered cars were built in our country, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard the old saying “Buy American” but it’s more true now then it ever was.

Cars provide a large part of our countries economy, and when you restore your classics, you buy parts and supplies from companies in this country, and in essence you help our economy buy keeping your money in our country, and help keep our business healthy and thriving, people whine about the cost of a restoration, but when you give up on our country and it’s cars, you drive prices up, higher and higher, for the parts and the services.

I know it sounds a bit redundant when you hear somebody telling you to “Buy American”, but they sat it because they care about our country, and our way of life.
You hear people all of the time telling you that import items are built better, but have they really tried American products, or are they just spewing out the ranting of a friend or neighbor who’s telling them these lies.

An American car emulates Americana, and shows people that you are a true American, well now that I have finished that little rant about the things that I see all the time, I’ll give you some real reasons to restore your old American car, and the fun it can be. I know that the above writing was a bit long winded, but I had to say it.

Well here are some reasons why it’s a good idea to restore your old car.

1) An old car is fun for you, and your entire family, if you get them involved in it.

2) It doesn’t matter if you do the restoration yourself, or have a shop do it for you, the entire process can be fun, and a learning experience for you.

3) You can invite all of your friends over to help you, if you do the job yourself, get them involved in the joy of your old car.

4) Invite your family and friends to go to the car shows with you, car shows are a lot of fun, and even more fun when you take a prize.

5) Enough people are just sending them to the wrecking yards, don’t be one of these people.

6) If your thinking about having a shop restore your car makes sure that you stay involved in the process of the restoration, a shop wants you to care about your car.

7) Make sure that you get your car built the way that you want it built, don’t let anybody tell you how to do it.

8) Your old car can bring a lot of years of joy and fun, if you get what you want.

Do yourself a huge favor, and spend some time looking for the right car to fit your personality, if you join our ezine, we’ll help you learn how to pick a good car to start with and help minimize that work and time it will take to get it on the road.

When you start restoring your car, people will tell you that you need to restore it to factory specs, I don’t tell people that, what I will say is this; build your car the way that you want to, people will tell you that your car will lose it’s value if you customize it, allow me to explain something about this, ok here it is, it’s true that your car will lose value if you customize it, but it’s easy to fix this problem.

First think about what you want to do with the car, if your building it with plans of selling immediately, it may be better not to start work on it in the first place, you really can’t make a profit doing that, unless you have a really special car, like a hemi Cuda, ZL1 Camaro or Corvette, or possibly a Shelby mustang, or AC Cobra, these are cars that you can make money on.

If you are restoring it with plans to keep the car, then I wouldn’t worry much about the authenticity of the car, worry more about making the car what you want it to be, just keep all the original parts, so you can put them back on if you decide to sell the car, or at lease so you can tell the buyer of the car that you have all the parts to make it original again.

Do your custom paint work that you want, upgrade to the latest suspension and steering components, put a new factory crate motor in it, do the interior your way and have the nice stereo system that you want, and all the latest gadgets and gizmos, make it your car.

How to Convert Car to Electric - Choosing a Motor

The electric car differs from the conventional vehicle in one big way - instead of a gasoline engine, the EV rather has a motor that drives the car. The motor determines the acceleration of the car instead of the engine in regular cars.

The motor is the single most important part of the electric car as it causes it to move. It is therefore essential that much consideration is accorded this part during the conversion process.

The price of the car will be determined by the type of motor you mount on the car. The motor would also determine the extent of modifications that you would have to do.

There are principally two main types of motors for the electric car conversion. You have the AC and the DC conversion systems.

The Ac conversion is more robust and will give bigger power for your car. It us suitable for large cars and tricks. It is easier and quicker to recharge and will make ten car travel faster. It is however more expensive.

The DC system is cheaper but suits smaller cars. It is easy to mount and will not need any elaborate modifications to your car. The DC system is also slow to recharge and requires hours to get a full charge.

The type of motor you chose will depend on many factors. If you have a large car and you go in for a smaller or DC motor, you may find the car stalling. You would not be able to get top speed and you would spend hours charging.

You may note that the series motor would offer low speed with greater loads but would travel faster if there is light load.

I hope you found the article informative. Are you interested in converting your car to electric? For more information about how to convert car to electric, visit gas2electric.net for more information about the Gas2Electric conversion guide. Finally, build an electric car and never buy gas again!
